Hi Connie,
I wanted to get my input to you in case I’m not there tonight.
1) I would like to see the lodging / food tax raised to 5.5 %. This is a pass thru tax and I do not believe that it would effect tourism at all.
2) I would like to see the Town employees get a cost of living increase this year
3) I would like to see the duties of the Police secretary and Town halls part time help split or shared if you like. After all we have 7 full time and 1 seasonal officers on staff. That’s 1 officer for every 195 people living in Town. That’s a very high ratio and all calls still go thru 911 (They should be able to do their own paper work.)
4) I think we should think about the current funding of the officer we supply for the drug task force. Fuel and overtime are way over. We need new funding options

RE: Item 4, perhaps we should just let drugs take over the county. That would be GREAT for tourism and those living here!
ReplyDeleteI guess you did not understand the statement, over time and gas ran a lot higher then budgeted for 2010 overtime is at 229% and gas is at 137%. What I said is we need to find additional funding and please next time please sign your name to your comments..Thanks Glenn
ReplyDeleteBy the first comment, Im wondering how many drug arrests have been made in the town of Clarksville in say the last 5 years? What is this compared to other tourist towns? From what I understand the state average per towns our size... we should only have maybe 3 regular police officers. Doesnt the county have a drug task force already? Is over ticketing tourists a good thing for promoting tourism?
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about the police officers we have they do not only protect our locals but the vistor's we have. The number of people they have to protect is higher during events that the town has through out the year. Lakefest being the biggest thing, if we only had 3 officers how would they be able to do it all? Officers PROTECT AND SERVE they risk their lives for us they need to be RESPCTED and not bad mouthed! If we only had 3 officers how would we have 24 hour protection?
